Most toll-free number providers won’t allow you to own your numbers and can charge up to $29/month per number or as much as 5.9¢ per minute of talk time. We think that’s absurd. In addition, you’re at the mercy of another company if you don’t control your numbers. With 440 Group, you pay a one-time cost and we charge no monthly or per minute fees.
1-800: The King Of Toll-Free.
As we all know, quantities of toll-free numbers starting with the 800 prefix are becoming more and more difficult to secure. With a finite number of true 800 numbers, many marketers are using other toll-free prefixes. This includes 888, 877, 866, 855, 844 and 833. The issue with these prefixes is two-fold. First, many people still associate toll-free with 1-800 only and may dial "1-800" even if the different prefix is right in front of them. The second, and more difficult problem, is that many people simply don’t know about the new prefixes. Some may know that 888, 877 or 866 numbers are toll-free, but many folks on the street (your customers) don’t know that 855, 844 and 833 are also toll-free. As marketers, this can be a real problem.
